Mandatory Acclimatization
Arrive at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (11,500 ft). Strict 24-hour hotel rest. Your body needs to adjust to the 40% drop in oxygen. Hydrate heavily.
- 2Day 2
Leh Local & Adjustment
Short, flat walk to Leh Market. Visit Shanti Stupa at sunset for panoramic views, testing your altitude tolerance.
- 3Day 3
Over Khardung La
Drive over one of the world's highest motorable passes (17,582 ft) down into the Nubra Valley. The altitude drops, making breathing easier. Overnight in Hunder.
- 4Day 4
Turtuk Village Detour
A day trip to Turtuk, the last Indian village before the LOC. Experience Balti culture, apricot orchards, and views of the Karakoram range.
- 5Day 5
Shyok River Route
Take the rugged, off-road Shyok river route directly to Pangong Tso. Arrive at the 134km-long lake as the setting sun turns the water deep violet.
- 6Day 6
Pangong Sunrise & Return
Watch the lake change colors at dawn. Drive back to Leh via the Chang La Pass (17,586 ft). Evening at leisure in Leh.
- 7Day 7
Indus Valley Monasteries
Explore the ancient Hemis and Thiksey Monasteries. Stop at the Rancho School and watch the sunset at the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers.
- 8Day 8
Free Roam Leh
No plan. Grab coffee at a local roastery, buy pashmina in the old market, or visit the Central Asian Museum.
- 9Day 9
Soft Goodbye
Early morning transfer to the airport. Look out the window for stunning views of the Zanskar range from above.
